This article describes the steps needed to upgrade any on-premises version of Identity Panel to the current version (6.x).
Hosted Implementations
For cloud implementations, SoftwareIDM must firstly be engaged to update the hosted App Service. This can be done by submitting a support ticket with the SoftwareIDM Service Desk.
Once the App Service is upgraded, follow the step-by-step instruction for hosted environments in Panel Tools and Upgrade.
On-premises Implementations
Minor Upgrade
Minor upgrades from 6.0.1 or higher to the current version do not require an outage.
- Backup Identity Panel
- Download Identity Panel installer and run the self-extracting executable PanelTools.exe
- Run the extracted PanelTools\ServiceSetup.exe and run option 1, Install Panel Service
Note: For a step-by-step instruction for hosted environments, see Panel Tools and Upgrade.
Major Upgrade
When performing this upgrade plan for a two-four hour outage for schedule operations, and a one-day outage for full-text search.
The process for upgrading is:
- Backup Identity Panel
- Remove Installed Version of Identity Panel
- Upgrade MongoDB to Version 6.x (optional)
- Install Elasticsearch Version 7.x
- Install Identity Panel*
*After completing the Install portion of the above article, and before accessing the web application or moving to setup walk-through, perform the following additional steps:
Open a command prompt in your web application installation directory and run:WebAgent.exe --upgrade
WebAgent.exe --reindex
net start SoftwareIDM.WebAgent
Finally, instead of entering the setup walk-through you will need to re-apply a license key, then upgrade Panel Service instances.
