Valid Q1-2019
MIM as a Service is a new hosted MIM solution from SoftwareIDM. It can also be provided yourself or third party using Identity Panel new technology call MIM Service Port. MIM as a Service from SoftwareIDM provides three Azure servers hosted by SoftwareIDM (within an Azure secure tenant operated by SoftwareIDM). This is an option for customers who do not want to host their own MIM Server, or use a managed service provider to host MIM.
The ability to Host MIM as a Service comes from Identity Panel and the MIM Service Port. By using the MIM Service Port, with SoftwareIDM Management Agents, you, your provider, or SoftwareIDM can provide you with a hosted MIM Server, that doesn't require a physical connection to your on-premise systems, or require a join to your company domain.
Requirements
Most customers will already own most of the licenses they need through their use of Identity Panel and MIM DevTest, and will only need to add MIM Service Port as a license or subscription. In addition to the items listed below, you will also need the respective Panel Provider product. For example, if you plan to provision to LDAP, Active Directory, or AD LDS, you will need Directory Panel.
MIM Portal
MIM as a Service includes the MIM Sync Engine and the MIM Portal, if you request it. If you wish to use the MIM Portal, you need to provide the CALs or licenses through AzureAD P1 or P2. Therefore you need the following:
You can avoid the above if you choose to replace the MIM Portal functionality with Service Panel. You can also have Service Panel front-end the MIM Portal, where you will need CALs or AzureAD P1 or P2. If you plan to have end-users interface with the MIM Portal Service using MIM as a Service hosted by SoftwareIDM, it can only be performed through Service Panel.
