MIM Service Port allows Identity Panel to service MIM actions using the SIDM MIM Management Agents (MAs). Your MIM server's MAs communicate with the MIM Service Port hosted by Identity Panel SaaS. Identity Panel then facilities the remote actions on behalf of MIM. For example, to provision an Active Directory user account, MIM would communicate with Identity Panel through the MIM Service Port, and Identity Panel would provision the account. For MIM to read and write to other targets, like Office 365, ServiceNow, Salesforce, Box.com, or any supported target, the same principle applies. Since the service is provided over HTTPS, the MIM Server can live in the cloud or on premise, independent of the target.
Existing ECMA2
Since Identity Panel supports ECMA2, you can use your own custom ECMA2 MAs created for MIM. Once migrated to Identity Panel, you can call them from within MIM using SIDM MIM MAs, Service Panel, Access Panel, MIM DevTest, Recovery, or Bulk Update. This is an important feature to companies who wish to use existing ECMA2 connectors within Identity Panel.
MIM can be hosted anywhere
Because the MIM Service Port uses HTTPS, you can run MIM from anywhere. On-premise MIM installations can use Identity Panel to provision to on-premise and cloud systems. Cloud hosted MIM Servers can provision and manage user accounts via HTTPS, without the need to have a network or VPN connection to the on-premise networks. The MIM Service Port makes running MIM as a Service possible.
What is needed
You will need to add the SoftwareIDM MA to your MIM server.
Can I run the MIM Service Port on premise
Yes. There are advantages to running MIM through the MIM Service Port, even when running MIM on-premise or within the customer's own cloud integrated network. The customer benefits from delta speed performance inherited when using Identity Panel, and can leverage Identity Panel's providers to more targets.
Can I run my own ECMA2 Management Agents
Yes, if you own a Data Panel license, the Panel Service consumes ECMA2, allowing you to use your ECMA2 code over HTTPS, from a cloud hosted MIM Server.
